Agency Workers Directive
There has been much debate over the structure and impact of the Agency Workers Directive, but now the government has announced that the legislation will not be implemented until November 2011.
Within the recruitment industry, there have been concerns that the right balance shoud be struck between the rights of temporary workers and the ability to retain flexibility in the marketplace, and the REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation), of which Extraman is a member, has been active in the consultation process.
In tandem with legislation, Extraman remains committed to treating our temporary workers fairly and with respect. We have enjoyed a very healthy and successful realtionship with our temps over a period now approaching 40 years - many have become friends, or full time employees, and indeed clients!
The AWD will become a reality, and the challenge for all business is a smooth implementation and transition so that the benefits can bear fruit for workers and commerce alike.
