The Value of Experience
During 2010, 50% of our management team will have exceeded 10 years' service with the company. We believe that no other recruitment company comes close to Extraman's level of experience.
In fact, some of our temporary workers have managed over ten years with the company, which is quite possibly verging on the unique!
This news page focuses on Gary Davies, who shares the role of joint MD with his fellow owner Adrian Gregory. Gary joined Extraman as a temporary van driver back in the late 1970s, was pounced on as a potential consultant by Adrian, and a few years later the two bought the company from the existing owners. Gary is the sales backbone of the company, and places a high value on developing relationships with clients that are personal, honest and longstanding. The Extraman culture embraces the need for the highest levels of service, and Gary's sales role does not stop at the first meeting, but remains throughout the relationship, often over many, many years. As a result, in many cases clients remain friends long after the gritty days of negotiation and supply are over!
Gary's interests also help define the culture of Extraman. Notably, his love of horses is shared by many of his colleagues, and a number of racehorses have carried the Extraman colours, including the successful hurdler and chaser fortuitously named The Extraman, who led home the field in 9 races over a number of years. Many a client has enjoyed the pickings of The Extraman and others, and the equine interest has sparked excitement enough in some clients to join our racing syndicates.
Music, fine wine and food, and a propensity for repeating jokes also combine to give Gary the attributes that have made him, and subsequently Extraman, successful. However, he realises more than anyone, that ultimate success lies in the quality of his management teams and temporary workers, without whom no testimonials could be drawn on, even from the most loyal of friends.
